The building is a wing of Dacia Hotel, built in 1902. The style is secession, on bearing bricklayer, plates from brick arcs on metallic cross bars. The hole has columns and two stairs which lead to the mezzanine. The concerts rooms is flanked with colonades. The cupola is richly ornamented and painted in floral mosaic elements. The room capacity is 320 sits. The acoustics is famous.

The county museum detains in its musical instruments collection from the 18th century when the beginnings of the county cult music is attested. The first societies which cultivated this type have been : “The lecture society of the students from Satu Mare”, “Craftsman casine”, “The coral society: which had as a leader the composer and bandmaster Meder Mihaly;”The coral society of songs and music” - which had an orchestra and a music school. In 1920 a County Conservatory is founded (leaded by Adrian Demian) and from 1924 it becomes “The sons and music reunion V.Lucaciu” with an orchestral band “The philharmonic society”(founded in 1922 bu Aug. Ferentiu). Some concerts took place in the house of the famous lawyer and than in Urania Hall (ex Popular Cinema). Bela Bartok; George Enescu have concerted at Satu Mare.
In 1947 the “Philharmonic Society” is reformed and shortly after that becomes “The state symphonic orchestra Satu Mare” . From 1991 it is named “Dinu Lipatti Philharmonic”.

The violinist Rudolf Fatyol is the artistic director with a special national and international prize list. The county philharmonic has a few own representations which brought popularity and special concerts; The county music days, The festival of the young bandmasters , “Stefan Ruha” Festival.
